Accidental injuries are the fifth leading cause of death in the United States. One out of every 10 construction workers is accidentally injured every year. In 1999, there were approximately 7 million reported car accidents in the U.S. About 3,2 million were injured in car accidents and exactly 41,345 lost their lives. In 38 percent of all car accidents, alcohol was involved. Also, 4,695 innocent pedestrians were killed in car accidents, and 63 percent of all car accident fatalities were attributed to passengers who were not wearing a seat belt.
